Skipton Music Presents: Apollo Saxophone Quartet
Formed in 1985 the Apollo Saxophone Quartet has enjoyed four decades at the forefront of the UK classical music scene, commissioning and premiering well over new 100 works.
This concert offers a show of two contrasting halves. The first set features five recent commissions from some of the most exciting new generation of UK composers.
The second half brings to Skipton Town Hall the Quartet’s acclaimed music with silent film project Journey Across the Impossible. Expect acrobatic flies, dancing pigs, collapsing bridges, drunken hallucinations, exploding heads and an infernal cakewalk, all beautifully set to music and performed live to film in the age-old tradition from the very first years of the moving image.
Programme to include:
JENNI WATSON Radius
DANI HOWARD Neverland
GRACE-EVANGELINE MASON In the Fragrant Air
ADAM CAIRD Saxophonic Movements
