September Line-up
Phil Walker – MC
Phil Walker radiates an infectious and cheeky energy, his act has taken him to some weird & wonderful places, from a scout hut in Unst in the Shetland Isles to a porta-cabin on mount Alice in the Falkland Islands, basically he’ll go anywhere for a laugh! Phil started his career on the tough holiday park circuit and has since won City Life comedian of the year 2002/03 and was the Wilkinson Sword Cutting Edge of comedy regional winner and finalist Edinburgh festival 2002. Phil is also proud to have entertained over 4000 troops on two tours of war torn Afghanistan. His great act, along with his warm personality & charm have made Phil one of the most sought after entertainers around today.
Paul Pirie
Paul Pirie is a stand out Scottish stand up comedian who began his stand-up career after giving up acting to pursue the funny man that lies within, quickly establishing himself on the Scottish comedy circuit as long ago as 2004. With a driving force for achievement Paul worked his way into the London clubs and was launched onto the UK comedy scene, emerging as one of the biggest Scottish acts on the UK comedy circuit. Paul’s career has encompassed TV, Film and Radio alongside his burgeoning skill as a stand-up. His physical, theatrical presence on stage and his sharp, rapid-fire comedy onslaught is packed with highly entertaining material, blurring the line between real-life anecdotes and flights of fancy.
Matt Stellingwerf
New Zealand born Matt Stellingwerf has been described as the newest star on the UK comedy scene, having dominated the comedy stages of New Zealand for the last few years. Matt has won four NZ Comedy Guild Awards, been nominated for several others, and was nominated as Best Newcomer at the 2014 NZ International Comedy Festival. Hamilton-born and Wanganui-raised farmer’s son and trained criminologist, an award-winning bar fly…and genuinely lovely guy, Matt is a man of contradictions. He expertly brings these contradictions to the stage with his typical low-key style and confidence, finding the humour in topics as diverse as love, mental illness, sex, drugs, and a crazy interview he once conducted with a serial killer on Death Row! Matt now brings a worldview inspired by alcoholic shearing gangs, bizarre Dutch relatives, and criminological theory to the stage and attempts to answer some of life’s enduring mysteries. So come along, grab a brew and have a laugh!
Silky
Despite possessing one of the silliest names in comedy – and there’s been a few – Liverpudlian in exile Silky has managed to emerge as one of the very best comics in the business. At only his fourth ever gig he was on BBC1 in the final of the 1995 BBC New Comedy Awards alongside Lee Mack (Mock The Week, Not Going Out) and Julian Barratt (Mighty Boosh). Silky has had several TV appearances and performed internationally all over Europe and China, the Philippines, the Gulf, Singapore, US, Australia and at Glastonbury Festival. Rated by fellow comics, critics and audiences alike, he has completed two consecutive sell-out tours of the UK with his mix of classic one-liners and off-the-cuff banter without parallel. A tall, versatile, funny and very likeable performer, he is the ideal man, whether you need a friendly host, full-on, blistering stand-up or something down from the top of a cupboard.
